Five Thoughts On Gift Giving
Whenever there are special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, Christenings and any other occasions where you give gifts, the most difficult thing to do is choosing the perfect gift for someone. Although in gift-giving, they say that it is not what you give, but it is the thought that counts.
Well, true but not exactly. How does it feel if you got a gift which is absolutely far from what you like? Or better yet how does it feel if the gift that you gave is not appreciated by the recipient? What a bummer right? Well, here are some things that should be remembered when buying someone, whether special or not, a gift.
• The recipient's preferences
It is always best to think of what the recipient of the gift generally likes. This determines the gift that he or she usually expects from other people. Also, you have to consider what the recipient dislikes because why would you give someone something that they dislike for a gift, right? If the gift is something edible, then it is best to give something which is either the favorite of the recipient or something which the recipient has not tried before but has been craving to try and taste which makes it a special gift. Also when giving food as gifts, make sure that the recipient is not allergic to it.
• Item price
When it comes to prices, the more expensive a gift can get, the more it is appreciated. But that is not always the case. Sometimes it is much better to look at the item that will be given as a gift not through its price as it is not the price that will be appreciated but the item itself or the thought of giving a gift itself.
• Item brand
Just like the price, item brands are not always the best way to show the sincerity of gift giving because sometimes it just becomes a basis for showing off to the gift giver.
• Use of an Item
Usability should always be put to mind when choosing a gift for someone. Well, it does not mean that the item in question should always be in use by the recipient but at the least It will be used or useful to the recipient every once in a while.
• Wear and Tear
Another thing to put in mind is that the gift, whatever it is, should be durable and will not easily be broken. The item should always be something which would last at least for a few years or so in order that it would be worth every penny spent on it and also worth the trouble of buying it to be given as a gift for another person. When the gift to be given is food, the expiration date of the food that will be given should be considered first of all. Also, make sure that the packaging of the food is tight so as not to destroy the quality and ruin the gift itself.
